Liberal Democrats Win Big in Local Elections!
The Liberal Democrats were the big winners in May’s local elections.
The party won 13 of the 16 seats in Winchester District, with local residents backing our positive plan for a cleaner, greener future.
Lib Dem council leader Martin Tod said: “Thank you to every one who voted Liberal Democrat in the local elections.
“We have a fantastic team of local councillors who understand the issues facing local residents. We’re already hard at work to improve our area, building on the successes of recent years to make Winchester district an even better place in which to live and work.”
Speaking after the result, Parliamentary Campaigner Danny Chambers said: "Across our area, more and more local people are backing the Liberal Democrats. The elections here in May show people are fed up with the Conservatives and want the positive change the Lib Dems offer.
"With a General Election now likely in the next year, it’s an exciting opportunity for our area to get an MP we can trust to put Winchester first.
"The Conservatives have delivered higher taxes, higher mortgage rates and higher food bills. I’m focused on cutting the cost of living, ending sewage dumps and fixing our NHS."
