Danny votes for compensation for WASPI women

Winchester MP votes for compensation for WASPI women, while Labour and Conservatives block progress
In a vote in Parliament today, Winchester MP, Danny Chambers voted for a bill on a pathway towards giving almost 6,000 WASPI women across Winchester and the Meon Valley compensation. It follows an independent report that found they had suffered an injustice due to a failure to properly inform them of pension age changes.
Danny Chambers emphasised his disappointment in the Labour government, who joined Conservatives in their failure to vote for the bill, stating “This mess caused by a series of Conservative governments over multiple decades should be behind us. This government is missing an opportunity to demonstrate the change this country voted for.”
“I have heard from countless WASPI women in Winchester and across the area who have been affected. I’m proud that Liberal Democrats are here, offering the real opposition in parliament by voting to put right this injustice. Though Labour and the Conservatives blocked progress for now, I’ll keep fighting until the thousands of WASPI women in my constituency and across the country get the justice they deserve.”
